Many have probably already seen this tutorial, but I found it really useful to help me understand steam engine parts better and with making steampunk machine drawings look somewhat plausible:

Yeah, I like steampunk too, though I find it hard because I'm quite clueless about mechanical details. When I tried drawing steampunk, I was sitting there with this tutorial and like three picture books on the history of science, technology and engineering for children that explained how things work and had nice large pictures where you could actually see details of real machines, rather than just some diagram showing the principle.
